Week 4 and All the Old Stuff I didn't include before!
I noticed when I looked back on my blogs that I didn't discuss a few things. What I did find interesting about the PR profession was the explosion of the career after the Industrial Revolution, and the need for people in this profession. Many of the largest companies in American history were formed in the early 1900's, and desperately needed professionals whom would work with the publics. Aside from the Industrial Revolution, World War I also played a significant role in the advancement of PR professionals. I really thought the case study on Red Cross after September 11 was very interesting, but what I will say about the Red Cross is although they did make several key mistakes following the tragedy, they did recover nicely. It was good to know that mostly all the money that was donated to the organization was distributed by the first anniversay of the disaster. I was also glad to hear that most of the blood was put to some good use, and that therefore a lot of the blood was not wasted. Chapter 4 was an essential chapter in the book because it showed all the different kinds of publics in the PR profession. There are many different ways that a public can be identified, so that was good information to have. I am off to do more studying for this first test, until next time!
