Defining PR and 9/11

This week was a very exciting one in class! I enjoyed the background information that our professor provided for us, especially with the web pages that were posted the day of. It was very interesting to see the msnbc website that still had so many other distractions going on on the website page when the country was in a state of chaos. It was also very interesting to find out what many of my colleagues' beliefs of Public Relations was. For instance, I recieved one statement from a friend who replied that PR was "relating to the public." There were also statements like "Creating publicity for a client and/or marketing." I prefer the book's definition that PR is the communication between a company/agency and it's publics, a two-way communication." I really enjoy this PR Principles book because it gives you a lot of information of Public Relations in the corporate market. I would personally like to find more information of the event planning aspect of PR, since it is the field that I am most interested in (well, at least for now!). I will be posting again shortly, so until next time! Wait, and I must also say that I was very impressed with the number of PR jobs that are available! The pay rates of these jobs were also much higher than what I expected!
