Project!

Sorry to be posting so late in the weekend (or technically Monday morning), my internet was down!! For my project, I have a company called Taylor Insurance Services Agency. This Agency has offices in Texas, California and Florida; and is the umbrella for several home, life and car insurance providers. At my company, there is a new pandemic plan entitled "Taking Initiatie to Stop Anarchy" project, which really just emphasizes the importance of organization and communication during chaotic times, and it stresses the importance of unity and cohesiveness. I really like the idea of the "company," and that it serves to protect its customers and employees alike. I found that writing is the most important part of any newsletter, because it will be read by all employees and is a vital source of information. Therefore, all info that is given should be correct and updated at all times!! I really enjoyed this project because it was hands-on experience to the work that I will hopefully be doing myself really soon!!

Week 11

This week was a very trying week for me in this class! I really had a little more difficulty with the test than I thought I would have. Nevertheless, the content of chapters 5-9 was essential to me. This week we discussed the media kits, and I read chapter 10. Chapter 10, in short, further stresses the importance of good writing. In their example at the beginning, you imagine yourself at your first big PR job after graduation. There is a new director at Volunteer Clearinghouse, one of your agency's key clients, and your job is to create a newletter announcing the new director. This is a very key moment in the career of a PR practicioner because it is important that your writing process begins with values and ends with evaluation. It is important to approach your writing process with confidence and take these assignments very seriously. You should make sure that each stage is consistent with maintaining the values of your company, and in doing all these things, your project should end successfully!! Thats all for now, talk to ya later!

Week 10

I was not sure what I am supposed to blog about for this week (since there is a test on Monday), but I will say that I did find some interesting information as I was researching my assigned state (Maine) capital's local newspapers and electric utility related stories. There was alot of useful information from chapter 9 about the different kinds of PR tactics that professionals should use.I really like the fact that our textbook constantly stresses honesty and making the best ethical decisions for not only the publics, but for your company and yourself as well. I will be back later to post, until next time!
